The Scream is without a doubt Edvard Munch’s most famous painting — and often the only one people know. It is an emblematic example of the expression of anguish in his work, even though between 1880 and 1943 he painted nearly 1,800 paintings on many other themes.

Les larmes d'Éros, Georges Bataille
Under the patronage of desire and death, pleasure and horror, Georges Bataille explores man's irrepressible passions. Through an intuitive history of painting, from prehistory to surrealism, he sheds relentless light on our greatness and our tragedy.

Paul Kooiker at Tegenboschvanvreden Gallery

Exhibition view, Paris Photo 2025

Paul Kooiker works at the intersection of art and fashion. He uses staged and constructed images to question how the body is portrayed and perceived. His work often distorts scale, manipulates lighting, and isolates body parts to disrupt familiar visual cues.
